A couple of weeks ago, I spent a day in Joshua Tree National Park. Every year I try to visit at least one National Park…particularly in the current political climate that seems hell-bent on parsing them out to the highest bidder. Joshua Tree was vastly different from all other National Parks I have previously visited. It had a very outer-worldly feel to it, like I was visiting another planet. I know that sounds cliche, but it is nonetheless true. I arrived slightly before sunrise – missed the entrance turn and had to drive back – so I hurriedly picked a potentially scenic spot to quickly deploy my tripod and gear.
