One of my favorite that I have visited was Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. The place is a goldmine for scene’s like this. It was built in 1829 and, at the time, served as a model for other such prisons around the world. It was quite literally locked up and abandoned in 1971, later being rescued by the city and saving it from demolition for shopping and housing. It was opened to the public as a tourist attraction, having been left nearly in the same condition in which it was found 20 years after it closed. Peeling paint, empty furniture and in some cases actual trees growing inside the cells! It is a must-shoot site!
